Dieting together

According to international research by psychotherapist Lydia Hanich, MA, when couples approach better health and diet regimes together with mutual decisions about what food to prepare, they not only make it easier to lose weight, but they are TWICE as likely to achieve their health and wellbeing goals compared to going solo.

A new study by Seasonal Berries also found out of the 1750 men and women surveyed 89% had lost weight when they dieted together. These people lost an average of 3.6 kilos in weight compared to just 2.7 kilos for the people who had dieted by themselves.

The study also revealed that when deciding who to diet with was that 60% found teaming up with their husband or wife their top choice and only 20% chose to diet with a friend. Also three quarters of the people said that motivation was a major factor to losing weight and living a healthier lifestyle and they found that their levels of motivation were so much higher dieting together as a couple especially when they came face to face with foods that they loved.

When people tried to diet on their own a lot said they were more tempted to indulge in snack and junk foods that were unhealthy and cheat around the foods they were eating and even lie to themselves.
